Amigurumi Exhibition

I’ve convinced myself to join 4th Amigurumi Exhibition 2017 during this winter. The exhibit will be held at Resobox Gallery in New York, USA. This is my 2nd chance to join. My 1st chance was when I lived in Tokyo, it’s about 3 years ago. Not really went well, but I was thankful had such a good opportunity at that moment. It such a big deal for me to join this moment again this year. I needed a moment to think twice and more before I’ve finally decided to join in.

all the gang that I’ve made and already sent

Every year Resobox organizes this exhibit in a different theme. This year’s theme is daily needs. It’s a very common theme and sounds easy for me. When I applied, I had to write down my personal theme about daily needs. What was that? I was so confused. But then I thought… I usually made an amigurumi pattern about some things that baby always needs or child usually loves. So I decided to write down this theme: baby need. Yes, a baby need is my personal theme. I already had some finished items as a sample pattern I made awhile ago and some amigurumi patterns which already listed both on my Etsy Shop and Ravelry (so you can make it one by yourself). I use my own pattern with a little mix and match with my other pattern. It really made my works easier and faster, no need to consume much time. I only needed a few more ideas to get more new designs.

Ok, enough for my prolog. I’m gonna show you all my 21 amigurumis that I’ve sent yesterday (I know it too soon to be sent. But hey, complicated things may happen during the shipment. Who knows? But I’m hoping they are all arrive there safely, in the right place and time).

Finger Puppets. This team was the last thing I’ve made. No idea at all at the end, then they came up in sudden. Thanks gang for coming to my brain 😀 So here they are, tiny team but success to make a happy face and smile from ear to ear 🙂

Fish Baby Rattle. In the middle of working these 2 fishes, somebody asked me about the pattern, and somebody put her custom order. Happy me, of course 😀 The pattern ready both on my Etsy and Ravelry.

love to see their ear to ear smile 🙂

Mouse Coaster. They are my old creations then I did a makeover. They’re not in a baby need’s theme because I can put other creations outside the main theme I’ve applied. They join to ignite the exhibition 😀

Pear Patchwork. 2 pear patchworks are for a baby rattle and the last one as a pin cushion. I added some sequins and beads.

Big Nose Puppy Baby Rattle. I made the grip using mushroom baby rattle amigurumi pattern, and the head part using big nose puppy amigurumi pattern. And I added a ruffle as a collar. My daughter said that this is a clown puppy haha!

Cloud Mobile. This is the biggest one. It’s not a toy but for decorative purpose. Hang it in baby room or kid’s room, and even your room. It’s just perfect for everybody who loves cute little things. The basic pattern ready to download here.

Mushroom Baby Rattle. I think this is the most wanted amigurumi pattern on my Etsy shop 😀 Need no more reason why these two mushrooms had to join the exhibition 🙂

I guess that’s all the stories I have. Most of them are a baby rattle. Why? Because I concern about baby development. When babies play, they learn something new from the toys through their 5 senses. Hope all my creations useful for babies and bring a joy to anyone who sees them.

Regards 🙂

Glowey Monster

Here’s a little story about Glowey Monster, a critter i made for “amigurumi monster design contest” by amigurumi patterns.

* * * * *

Glowey lives in a far far away place called Monster City, the city that full of bad monsters. All human are really scared and try not to have problems with them. But actually the problems always come from the monsters itself. They always make a trouble to human, come to Human City and make a messed. Human always being accused by the monsters for all the troubles. Poor human…

But there’s one monster that looks different than other monters. He doesn’t have a heart to hurt human’s feeling. He’d rather make them happy and please them. His name is Glowey Monster. He’s glowing when happy. But when he’s feeling sad, the glow is dissapeared.

Glowey loves his glow, because he can make human happy. But in the other way, all monsters are not happy at all with that glowy-thing. Usually in the middle of monster’s meeting, or while all monsters busy, Glowey always runs away to Human City. The more he often to show off his glowing body to human, the more he feels happier because human feel the same way too.

Until one day he’s never showed up again in Human City. All human are wondering about his absence, is something going wrong with him, is he ok, does he still love human, etc. The truth was one night at the border line, one of the monster secretly spied on Glowey while he headed to Human City. And that monster right away reported Glowey to Monster Chief and said that Glowey loves human. That against one of the Monster City’s laws.

When Glowey came back to Monster City, Police Monster already waited in the border line and caught him. He’s arrested until who knows when. Poor Glowey…

The End.

I know this is not a happy ending story. But in actual life, sometimes we’re not always get what we want, right? At that point we have to be patient and find another better clue.

I didn’t win the contest, but i was proud of my self beacuse i’ve got 365 votes from the audience! And i thank to my kids and my husband who gave all ideas about monster sketches to me (I asked them one by one to made some monster skteches and we selected them together).

Here is Glowey in lime green..

One of my friend ordered Glowey in shocking pink as a birthday present for her daughter. He’s really cute in shocking pink, isn’t he? 😀

And now i’m happily sharing the pattern on my Etsy store so you can make Glowey on your own in any colour you like.
